House rules & controls +
The break: player one opens. The table stays open even if you make a ball. An eight on the break is spotted back on the table. This casual break needs an object-ball contact and then a cushion or an object ball pocketed.
Your colors: the first ball pocketed on a legal shot after the break assigns solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15). A mixed shot assigns the first ball made. Keep shooting when you legally pocket your own ball. Opponent balls you pocket still count toward their clearance.
Fouls: scratching, hitting no ball, hitting the wrong group first, or having no cushion contact or object ball pocketed after first contact gives the other player ball in hand. On an open table, hit any object ball except the eight first. Place the cue anywhere clear on the felt.
The eight: clear your group before starting your shot on the eight. Pocket it in any pocket to win; no pocket call required. Making it early, with your last color, or on a foul loses the rack. If every colored ball is gone while the table is still open, either player can shoot the eight. There is no spin or jump control.
Pointer / touch: tap or move to aim, adjust power, then Take shot. For a pull shot, press on the table and drag backward from that point; the aim locks until release. A tap only aims. Escape cancels a pull. With ball in hand, tap a free spot to place.
Keyboard: focus the table. ← / → aim (hold Shift for fine aim); ↑ / ↓ change power; Space shoots; P pauses; Escape cancels a drag. With ball in hand, arrows move the placement marker and Enter places it. The buttons also work by keyboard. Games pause when the tab is hidden.

Yes. Corner Pocket is free to play in your browser, with no account or download. JavaScript and Canvas support are required.
Can I play 8-ball against the computer?
Yes. Choose Casual, Club player, or Expert from the Computer level menu. The computer plays as Player 2 and follows the same house rules as you.
Can two people play together?
Yes. Select Two players · same device to take turns at the same table. Corner Pocket does not have online multiplayer.
How do I play on a phone or with a keyboard?
On a phone or tablet, tap the felt to aim, set shot power, and select Take shot. On a keyboard, focus the table, use Left and Right to aim and Up and Down to change power, then press Space to shoot. Hold Shift for finer aim.
How do I win a rack of 8-ball?
Clear your assigned solids or stripes, then pocket the eight on a later legal shot. You do not need to call a pocket. Making the eight early, with your last color, or on a foul loses the rack. See House rules & controls for the break and fouls.
Are spin controls or saved matches available?
No. This version has no spin or jump controls and does not save racks or match history. Reloading the page starts a new rack.
